Most camera manufacturers offer an app that allows users to view cameras from a phone. However, remote viewing may require additional setup, including router configuration, port forwarding, usernames, passwords, recorder settings, and sometimes a DDNS service that helps map a changing internet IP address.

This can be confusing if you are not familiar with networking or camera system setup. Boss Security & Automation can help take the guesswork out of remote camera access and configure the system correctly.

WiFi cameras can be useful in some situations, but they are not the same as a professional hardwired camera installation. WiFi cameras depend on wireless connectivity, and if WiFi is interrupted, blocked, jammed, or unavailable, alerts and real-time access may stop working.

Some WiFi cameras may record to an internal SD card, but not every camera includes external storage. If the camera is removed, damaged, or tampered with, the recording may be lost. A professional hardwired system is a stronger option when reliability, security, and long-term coverage are important.

Unlike many home camera systems that require a monthly fee for remote camera access, Boss Security & Automation does not require a monthly subscription simply to view your cameras remotely.

As long as the system is properly configured and you have reliable internet access, remote camera viewing can be available from almost anywhere.

A home security system, also called an alarm system, typically uses a centralized control panel with a processor, memory, and wiring connections for hardwired devices. Many systems also include a keypad that allows a user or technician to arm, disarm, and program the system.

Hardwired systems can connect sensors directly to the panel, while wireless systems use sensors that communicate through radio signals. When a sensor is triggered, the system sends a signal through a communication method such as a phone line, internet module, or cellular communicator. That signal can then be transmitted to the central station, where the response follows the instructions listed on the account.

Yes. Boss can help review existing systems, troubleshoot issues, recommend upgrades, improve camera coverage, configure remote access, and help customers plan a more reliable security setup.

If a system is outdated, unsupported, poorly installed, or difficult to use, Boss can help determine whether service, expansion, or replacement is the best path forward.

The best camera system depends on the property layout, entrances, parking areas, blind spots, lighting, storage needs, remote viewing needs, and whether the business needs indoor, outdoor, or perimeter coverage.

Boss Security & Automation can help design a system around the building instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all camera package.
